Gentle dental care for growing smiles
Kids Dentist in Maple Ridge: Where First Visits Go Well
A child’s first few dental visits decide how they feel about dentists for the next thirty years. We take that seriously. At Cedar Ridge Dental, kids’ appointments are slower, gentler and honestly a bit more fun, because a seven-year-old who leaves smiling comes back without a fight.
Calm care that grows with your child
A familiar dental team from first tooth to teen years
Dr. Quadir especially enjoys treating children and takes real pride in calming an anxious child. Families from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows bring their kids to us as part of family dental care, and many of those kids stay with us into adulthood.
When should my child first see a dentist?
By their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth, whichever comes first. That is the guidance from the Canadian Dental Association too. The first visit is short and simple: we check development, answer your questions, and let your child get comfortable in the chair.

A calmer dental experience
My child is scared of the dentist. What do you do differently?
We go at the child’s pace, showing them the tools before using them and explaining everything in kid language. For very anxious children and those with special needs we have real experience, and for complex cases we also offer sedation and hospital dentistry. If a child ever chips a tooth after hours, we handle dental emergencies too.
One tip for parents: avoid saying it will not hurt on the way here. Kids hear the word hurt and nothing else. Just say the dentist is going to count their teeth.
Do baby teeth cavities really need fillings?
Yes, this surprises many parents. Baby teeth hold space for adult teeth and matter for eating and speech. An untreated cavity can cause pain, infection, and damage to the adult tooth developing underneath. Small cavities are quick, easy fixes, ignored ones become real problems.
Questions parents ask us
Children’s Dentistry FAQs
Do you treat children of all ages?
Yes, from a baby’s first tooth through the teen years. For the rare case that needs a certified pediatric specialist we will refer you honestly and directly.
How often should kids get checkups?
Every six months, same as adults. Kids’ cavities develop faster, so skipping a year is riskier than it sounds.
Why does my child have spots on their teeth?
White or yellow spots can be plaque, weak enamel or an early cavity. We explain the causes in our post on yellow spots on children’s teeth. It is worth a quick check.
Can kids get teeth whitening?
Generally not recommended until the adult teeth have fully developed. If your teen is asking, book a consult, and often a professional cleaning solves the colour concern.
